FAQDoes Activate publish original reporting? Every week, Activate provides summaries of news stories that have been reported by other publications and news agencies around the globe. Our editors and writers regularly contribute original content in the form of exclusive interviews with policy makers, activists, leaders, public figures, and thinkers of all persuasions. How do you choose your news sources? We look to the most reputable English-language sources all over the world for our stories. We try to balance local coverage from smaller regional newspapers with commentary by high-profile print magazines, and the views of conservative broadcast networks with those of left-leaning websites. If you think there's a great source we're missing, let us know at feedback@activate.us A major scandal broke in the White House this week — why didn't you cover it? Sometimes major stories break too late in the week for us to include them. Other times, we simply decide to balance front-page news with less covered stories that have been ignored by other publications. Which political candidate will Activate endorse in the next election? None! Activate is a nonpartisan publication. We report on leaders and candidates from across the political spectrumâand leave the business of choosing up to you. I am horrified by your last story on [insert controversial topic here]. Whose side are you on, anyway? We know there are many sides to every story, and we strive to provide straightforward, unbiased coverage. However, our editors and writers are human beings who write about what's important to them; those points of view may color the kinds of stories we choose and the way we decide to talk about them. You may disagree with some of our choices. In fact, you probably will. Let us know what you think at feedback@activate.us Why do some of the links ask me to log in when I click on them? A login may be required to view some of the news stories we link to in other publications. We try to keep this to a minimum, but it's impossible to avoid entirely as we strive to link to the most authoritative sources. Where's the arts & entertainment section? We hope to provide news in the most entertaining way possible. But we don't provide entertainment dressed up as "news." Translation: we leave the celebrity gossip on the sidelines. As for legitimate coverage of the arts? It's something we're interested in and may be able to incorporate as Activate expands. For now, Flavorpill boasts many wonderful publications dedicated solely to arts and culture—including ArtKrush, Boldtype, and JC Report—so our foremost concern is hitting those news topics that the other pubs don't cover. How can I write for Activate? If you would like to join our team, or just want to pitch an interesting piece, please contact us at articles@activate.us There's a story you really should cover! How can I tell you about it? We're always looking for unusual, worthwhile stories that are underrepresented by the media at large. We also like to know when there's something major going on in a part of the world we've overlooked. Please help us fill in the gaps by sending story suggestions to articles@activate.us |
