We miss finding smart connections between front-page stories and the important — but often neglected — ones. Meanwhile, links to "1,339 related" articles on massive news sites don't activate your mind, but rather, overload it.

Activate is the answer to the faceless aggregator. Our editors, a small crew of living, breathing humans, cover what they think matters, comment on it, and send it to you once a week in an email. That means a couple of things: you're not a lemming, and we're not stenographers. Rather than making news a passive business, Activate is driven by our need to find important connections and broaden our worldview about topics and issues we might have been aware of, but want to understand more deeply.
